Short answer: the Queen's Domain demo takes about 1 hour on the main route, and 1.5–3 hours if you hunt every secret and achievement. It is free on Steam, released December 4, 2025, and covers the game's opening area up to and including the first boss.
How Long Is the Demo?
Multiple sources agree on the length:
- About 1 hour for the main route — per the ResetEra Dungeon Chill preview thread ("takes about an hour to complete").
- 1.5–3 hours with exploration — per community wiki walkthroughs that include the hidden walls, shop and bestiary sweep.
- 45 minutes fastest / 1h 40m median for all 5 achievements — per SteamHunters completion data (53 players had perfected it as of late 2026).
Players who dig into movement tech (lunge-jumping out of the demo's intended bounds) report spending considerably longer just messing around — the demo rewards curiosity far beyond its one-hour critical path.
What's Inside the Demo?
The demo is the real opening of the game, not a bespoke slice. You get:
- The full opening area: shipwreck shore camp, the tower with the spear, the small island with the dagger belt, the tomb, and the large underground room with the elevator.
- The Shrine Guardian — the demo's only boss, gated behind the Endu Shrine Gate Key.
- 9 bestiary entries to find and kill (the community confirmed the count after the in-game list looked shorter).
- 5 Steam achievements, two of which most players miss on a first run.
- A hidden shop — Umbada's Trading Outpost — unlocked by an item the final boss drops.
For the complete route through all of it, see our demo walkthrough.
The Critical Warning: What You Must Do BEFORE the Final Boss
The demo ends seconds after you kill the Shrine Guardian. It plays a trailer and closes — there is no post-boss area and no way to keep playing. If you want all 5 achievements, finish this checklist before entering the boss arena:
- Find and eat the Mysterious Meal (hidden wall before the elevator → Who Cooked This?).
- Complete the bestiary — including the swimming fish only thrown knives can kill (Knowledge Keeper).
- Collect all three damage-type weapons (Ready For Anything).
- Kill the boss to get the Stone Duck Figurine, then immediately interact with the Crystal Monument to visit Umbada's Trading Outpost before the demo closes.
Miss the shop and you lock yourself out of its achievement — the most commonly missed content in the demo.
Does Demo Progress Carry Over to the Full Game?
待确认 — no source we verified (Steam community threads, the publisher press kit, or media coverage) confirms whether demo saves transfer to the full game. The Steam community has asked the developers directly; until there is an official answer, assume your demo progress does not carry over and plan to replay the opening.
How Hard Is the Demo?
It depends on your King's Field background. Veteran creators of the subgenre call it on the easy side — Dungeon Chill's previewer reported dying only once in three hours. Newer players find it considerably harder, almost always because of one mechanic: empty power-bar swings deal almost no damage. Learn to fight on a full bar (charge, strike, retreat, throw knives while it refills) and the difficulty curve flattens immediately.
